500ml bottle poured into a nonic pint - bottled ABV is 4.0%, the 3.7% refers to the draught version.
Look: Clear, golden yellow with an off-white head which diminishes to a foam cap leaving a good layer of lace behind it. A bit lighter than some bitters I've had, but by no means atypical.
Smell: Citrus, pineapple and hops but very little else. More of the former than the latter.
Taste: More of the same with an underlying burnt maltiness which was a bit distracting at first but I got used to it. There's a good balance between the fruit and hop notes but compared to some it might come across as a bit insipid. Nice, but nothing to shout about.
Feel: Quite a crisp feel to it with a good balance between the fruit and hop flavours - I suspect that this is trying to be a session beer and, to be fair, it probably does it pretty well. All in all a fairly undemanding pint.
Overall:The bottle describes it as having "citrus hop notes and moderate bitterness" - I can certainly agree with the former, and it's a pretty good balance, but the latter? As bitters go, it isn't, very, especially compared with some of the American IPAs I've been drinking recently. Probably not a fair comparison, though. Nice enough as a session beer, I'd be interested to try it on tap.
