i really dug this one, a neat hybrid of english grains and american hops, unexpected, but i did discover a few english brewers doing this sort of thing, using the same fuller english crystal and maris otter type malts in the mash, but partnering them with a closer to flavorless yeast strain and some really new school hops, less bitter and more aromatic, and thats what we have here. a lovely and shiny copper shade, with a creamy tan head on it and great clarity. aroma is the hops first, drippy pine sap, dank sativa, and citra and mosaic come out for me, fresher than almost any other hoppy beer we had in london, and really with some cool tropical fruitiness in the taste, pineapple for sure, bitter citrus, its really pleasantly backed up by the richer malt, which doesnt seem out of place here, maybe its the cleaner fermentation profile that allows for a little more grain to not be too much, counter to a more robust english strain, there is definitely a different kind of balance to this, but a cool mix of english and american ingredients. nice with a gourmet hotdog and a sidecar of fancy champagne, if you are into such things. one of the beer surprises of my trip to be honest, and my first beer from these guys. real well done!

Canned in a crafty craft can be very slightly better
Pours a most d brown body, like historical English IPA, with big foaming white head
Aroma is white chocolate and grapefruit
Flavour is fairly similar too

A 330ml can with a BB of June 2018. ABV is stated as 6.3%. Purchased a while back from Morrisons. The label describes it as having a rich malt character with citrus hops.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. Can-conditioned. A deep marmalade-amber hue with fine suspended sediment and plentiful carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before reducing to a persistent surface layer. Nice lacing.
S: Aroma of sharp fruity hops with hints of lemon/lime, grapefruit, zest, peel, subtle tropical fruit, caramel malt, ale yeast, faint brown sugar and subtle leafiness. Nice.
T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with notes of grapefruit, citrus zest, peel, mild tropical fruit, white grape, caramel malt, grain, ale yeast and leafiness. Slightly sweet, followed by a robust hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Lightly astringent; hop oils stimulate the palate. Aftertaste of grapefruit, citrus, caramel malt, ale yeast and a leafy bitterness.
O: Good stuff - plenty of hop character on offer. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are replete with citrus-laden hops, sweet caramel malt and ale yeast. Lovely body. Nice balance - goes down a treat. Well worth sampling.

Can. 6.3% ABV. Amber/ dark marmalade. Thick dense cream head. Effervescent.
Bold C-Hops. Sweet with phenolic pine. Malt present.
The taste reflects the aroma. A long bitter finish. The malt becomes more apparent on tasting and there is now some fruit.
Moderate body with a reasonably high viscosity.
I don't think the raised ABV has done it a favour.
