Pours a deep brown with hints of copper and a finger of head that dies off in time. Smells of molasses and dried fruit, primarily the dried pineapple and papaya you might see in a tropical trail mix, but also plum and raisin. Clove, banana, and other traditional Belgian esters and phenols show up on the tongue but in lower intensity than many quads. The mouthfeel is moderately thin, and the high alcohol content is extremely well hidden; I would never have guessed this was in the double digits.
Overall, this is in very much in keeping with the style but still distinctive. That said, I'm not sure if the high price is justified. The label informed me that I've consumed one of only 790 bottles; unfortunately, I was unable to taste the rare.
