Served from tap into a Raleigh Rare & Vintage Beer Tasting snifter. Poured black with a minimal tan head. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of roasted malt, coffee, wood, vanilla, dark fruit, and subtle sweet alcohol. The flavor was of roasted malt, coffee, mocha, wood, vanilla, and dark fruit. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. If I am completely honest, this was the best beer that I had at the festival. For the style it was spot on. The other little notes from the barrel were excellently integrated and very well thought out to compliment the backbone of this brew. The cocoa nibs were more sweet on this one than some bittering ones that you can get which was a very nice touch. This along with the vanilla from the barrel made it very easy to drink despite the ABV going on and made it quite enjoyable. Well done on this one guys and I look forward to trying some more new stuff in the future. Tick.
