Named after the Aztec relic of Tezcatlipoca, This mystic ale is brewed with 6 varieties of malts including a touch of peated malt in order to create a subtle smoke character. It is delicately hopped with an intense malt backbone.

Oil black body, two fingers of cratered brown foam
Smells of oak, cocoa, brown sugar, licorice
Nutty, woody, chocolatey, and a little smoky
Very creamy and rich feel
A decent beer. A little metallic or soapy at the end though

12 ounce can into an English pub glass.
A- Black body. Sudsy and foamy dark khaki head. Lace for days. Weeks.
S- Aroma throws me off a bit. Kind of a soapy, floral aroma. Odd. Light on the smoke, to be honest. Chocolatey notes are nice in there.
T- I'm baffled here. I keep my glasses pretty clean and well-rinsed, but the flavor here is like I poured this beer into a glass with dish soap. There's a smoky character there and something like hickory, which is pretty damn nice. I'm getting some nice flavors. Vanilla, caramel too. Despite the oddities, I really like this. 3.75
S- Very light bodied and creamy, while also feeling a tad undercarbonated. It essentially feels like a cask beer, which again, works in this case for me. 4
I'd need to revisit this as I really have no basis for knowing if what I am tasting is true to what the brewers intended and produced or not, as I only have one can.

12 oz can into a Belgian snifter
Great looking, with a thick light brown head that has very good retention and leaves patterned lacing. The body has striking ruby edges under light.
Most smoked beers are nit or miss for me, but this one is midway. Very fine, full, creamy smooth body with near perfect carbonation. Moderate level of smoke, although it picks up in the finish and lingers on in the aftertaste. It also builds across sips, eventually becoming too strong for my taste.
