Dizzying array of choices - 10 or so of there own offerings and a few guest beers and ciders.
Amber was very good and added a flight of four to taste some of the more inventive others - a salted caramel white stout among them.
Food was good and service was great.

Stopped into this downtown located brewpub while visiting a friend living in town. Smaller room with windows to view the brewing equipment. Short bar in front of the taps, and benches and tables around the other areas of the room. Had a half dozen on-site brews to offer, with all samples yielding good results. Has a kitchen that makes pizza and sandwiches to eat there. Laid back atmosphere, but very friendly and accommodating. Diagonal street parking out front.

I was able to stop by on a Thursday while taking one of the urchins on a tour of SDSU (very impressive btw).

As you walk in you will see a large room off to your right. This was empty when I was there but I guess it is used for big events.

The bar area is off to your left. The bar itself is smaller and seats maybe 10 people. The barroom has a bunch of tables, so no problem on space. Your order both food and beers at the bar as they do not offer table service.

Service was super friendly so no complaints there.

They had about 8 house beers on tap plus about the same number of guest beers. Unfortunately, for my Hop loving wife, they were out of both of their IPAs. I enjoyed their house APA and my wife had a couple of their guest beers (Zipline and Wienstaphner). I thought their beers were very good and my only regret is I did not get a chance to sample more.

We did eat there and enjoyed their pizza (interesting crust) and their wraps.

I will have no problem returning for visits if the opportunity presents itself.

This is a great place in a smallish but vibrant downtown.

Wooden Legs Brewing Company is a brewpub in Brookings, SD featuring a 3 bbl electric brew system utilizing several fermenters and serving tanks which you can see through the big windows to the brewhouse.

Beer: The house mad offerings usually hover around 8 to 10 available on a rotating inconsistent schedule. The quality is solid currently and seems to be continually increasing as they learn more and more as they brew. The variety is quite friendly to all beer drinkers since they rarely have two similar styles on tap. The guest taps are always skewed to something local or eclectic. They are targeting a quality experience for you as a beer drinker with certified beer servers on staff so expect great beer at a premium price.

Food: Simple pizza and sanwiches yet beautifully creative and delicious. Joe is the kitchen manager and prides himself on cranking out something new for your taste buds each time you come in. The sandwiches are served hot, with the meat stacked high between two locally baked slices of bread. The pizzas are a thin cracker crust and usually pack a punch of flavor no matter what your fancy is. They have several to choose from.

Atmosphere: Everything about this place screams classic brewpub. Simple and industrial brick, wood, and cement with beer art and local art hanging on the walls. Large windows show off the shiny brewing tanks and the brewers as well. However, expect to snuggle up with your neighbor as the temperatures and noise levels can make climate of your visit unpredictable. They try to play the No TVs thing but if there is a big game on and you're a sports fan they will usually accommodate.

Service: There are only bartenders, no servers so expect to go up to the bar and get what you need. They are consistently prompt and friendly.

Overall: Definitely a must stop in Brookings.

Tried a local favourite "the woody", was in every way AWESOME. Service was very good... I was given full attention when I was making selection, the staff was very friendly. Their were older and younger beer enthusiast in the establishment. The selection of beers was descent for such a small place, and at that one that brews their own beer ( I would of thought the selection would be "drink ours or drink what is common" ) FOOD ... well All you need to know is try the local Favourite " The Woody " is going to be your new favourite pizza. Unfortunately the quality of their beer was not what I had hoped... then it is a young brewery, I do feel if I were to be in the area again I would stop in again.

Nice place, but a little too bright for my tastes. The walls are white and the lights are clear 60W incandescent bulbs in clear industrial protective enclosures. Kind of reminds me of a dairy barn or meat locker.

The staff is friendly though and the beer is good.

Put the lights on a dimmer and it would be a big improvement.

Wooden Legs is the new brew pub in Brookings, SD. The atmosphere is generally sparse and industrial but with touches of warmth through the use of wood tables and booths. The service is excellent with servers who know their beer and are happy to help you explore new styles and brands. Almost always something new and interesting on tap.

They are always willing to let you try a small sample of a beer before buying a full pour. Flights available as well.

They're also doing a great job with their own line of beers. I've tried most and they were all, at least, very good; a few are excellent. If you go, be sure to have the pizza. Thin crust, great ingredients, very nice!

There is only one TV and is usually not on (mainly used for sporting events involving local teams). There's music, but not too loud to enjoy some fine conversation.

They're also rolling out a number of fun events. Worth a stop if you're in the area.
