500ml Bottle: best before 1 Oct 2013, poured into a Gwaun Valley Brewery badged UK pint sleeve on 12 June 2013.
This is a bottle conditioned beer bought for me by my son: part of one of the two gift packs he gave me after visiting the brewery.
I don’t think any sediment left the well chilled bottle, but the beer had a slight haze to it’s amber body: on top was a wisp and collar, no true head. A yeasty, almost ’mates home brew’ smell, some malts too.
The taste was again ’mates home brew’ but with a refreshing bite and malty flavour. Pleasant without being special, even if the name is St Davids Special.
Good depth of body and overall a good beer: even if first impressions turn to ’mates home brew’.
