A very dark mahogany brew with a big stiff tan head and good globs of lacing. The aroma is a sweet flowery cinnamon with a highlight of citrus hops. The flavor presents an interesting blend of earthy malt caramel and floral hops. It has a touch of light licorice, prunes, pretty unique I think. The feel is luscious but not highly carbonated, perhaps a bit aqueous. Fairly drinkable for the style. While Leathrlips is always a big hit at the Tap, don't miss out on trying this one too! Recommended.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub.
This steam beer poured a clear, coppery-straw color with white foam that settled but clung to the glass a bit. The smell was very mild, but some malt could be detected. The taste was mildly sweet (malty) and tangy with a mild hop bitterness towards the finish; a pleasant though not overly complex flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth with medium body and moderate carbonation feel. The finish was crisp with a bit of chalkiness. Overall an enjoyable steam lager.
