Oktoberfest (old Version)

Pours a clear dark red/maroon leaving a thick frothy white head. The aroma is caramel, nuts, some earthy herbal notes followed by a hint of smoked molasses. The taste is full frontal malt, balanced with a sharp hop bite that asks to be noticed. But that fruity, nutty, date sweetness dominates the palate. The finish is sweet but again leaves you with a small bitter bite, nice oktoberfest.

Discovered it was better to burn out than fade away with this one on 10/23/2004. 16-oz shaker pour at Bukowski’s, Cambridge location. Listed on their chalkbboard as The Tap's "Rocktober".

Huge froth of phantastic initial head, like an air castle you jump around in without your Keds on. Glinting mahogany hue with just a bit of haze and for the most part surreally quiet. Secret agent man malt to nose, with a suppository of all-spice, or Chinese seven spice. To taste, a crank of malt that washes and coats all surfaces, extremely frank in its malt character. A touch of root beer sweetness snuck up towards the tail end as well. Not normally a devotee of the style, this was immensely satisfying – would like to enjoy this outdoors on a cool fall evening in front of a crackling bonfire, leaves falling on my head, and the roar of ATVs climbing trees in the background.

Avoid the $5.25/pint at Bukowski’s. Instead, make the trip to Haverhill to get this right from the source, and try some of the other Tap offerings.

Pours a nice clear amber with small head. On tap it tasted rather sweet, 3 days later in a growler, the sweetness doesn't come thru as much, just a very drinkable, moderately hopped fine beer. Balanced hoppy finish.
Goes suprisingly well with nachos

Stats: 15.5 Plato, 25 IBU, 5.25% ABV

Poured a very small off white head that diminished quickly. Clear normal body with medium amber hue. Balanced moderate malt/hop aroma. Very sweet initial flavor with a surprisingly moderate/heavy bitter taste. Wonderful finish well balanced with a long lasting aftertaste. Light to medium body with a dry texture and a soft carbonation. Very slight metallic/chalky finish.

Very drinkable beer from a wonderful establishment.

Sampled this Oktoberfest while visiting this great Haverhill
brewtap in downtown and over dinner I had several of these.
Nice reddish color and a foamy head that dies down quick but its a smooth
delicious seasonal with nice hops and boy this is drinkable, I'm
going to be visiting here again soon!

This beer clear, poured a dark, mahogany red amber color, with white foam that settled. The smell was slightly sweet caramel malt. The taste was sweet caramel malt with some oak flavor and a slightly bitter hops taste in the finish and the aftertaste. The mouthfeel was full bodied with low carbonation feel. Overall it was smooth and creamy with a dry finish. This was a very easy and smooth drinking beer.
