I am not a fan of coffee, and this beer is dripping with that flavor. The beer has a nice lasting beige head that leaves nices lace. Dark chocolate in color where light doesn't pass through.
The aroma is strong café latte--slightly sweet with no hop. The flavor is strong sweet coffee. The hop shows up here particularly in the after the swallow. Unfortunately, the body is thin, especially for the style. The carbonation is slightly above expectations.
This is an easily drinkable porter, particularly if you enjoy the coffee flavors. I am not a fan of coffee, so this review may reflect that aversion.

Sampled on draft 10/29/03
Small frothy light brown head that dimished fully within seconds. Heavy toasted/nutty malt tones with lightly hopped aroma. Wonderful port (tawny/ruby) cask wood smell. Heavy initial sweet flavor with a mostly heavy bitter finish that stayed on the palate for quite a while. Medium to full body with a watery texture. Lively carbonation with a light to moderate alcoholic feel to the finish.
Really enjoyed this sampling. Perfect with dessert!

This porter poured a dark brown (black) color with light brown foam that settled but clung to the glass a bit (dark brown color if held to the light). The smell was a chocolately roasty malt and coffee aroma. The taste was sweet and malty with flavors of dark caramel, cocoa, a hint of coffee and some hops in the finish. The mouthfeel was very smooth and creamy and tasty: medium-full body and low carbonation.
