Presented in a basic pint glass the beer was a dark chestnut brown with one finger of white foamy head. No outright signs of carbonation, but nice lacing throughout the sample.
The nose is sweet with caramel and toffee. Strong malt presence backed with brown sugar and mollasses.
Semi-toasted malt base to the beer with hints of sweetness in the form of brown sugar and some toffee and caramel. Little to no hop presence and and little to no hop bitterness.
Medium mouthfeel, slightly chewy and low on carbonation. Very smooth to the finish.
A very enjoyable and sessionable beer. Smooth and well balanced. Nice malty flavor, while remaining "light" enough to session.

Clear copper color, no head or lace (served in a four ounce glass)
The aroma is very appealing: a complex blend of malt and hops. Fresh.
Highly hopped taste (45 ibu's!). While it is full bodied, it isn't as smooth as some of the other offerings at the Tap. The carbonation is proper. The aftertaste is hop bitterness
This beer reminded me of an English ESB. I couldn't detect the German aspects from this one. Still, this is a fine ale.
