The beer pours a dark brown/black color with a thin tan head that fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has your typical IS aroma; stiff black malt bitterness with a mild chocolate malt balance. There is a very sour nose here. I'm not sure if this was fermented with brett or it was soured while aging in barrels, but there is a noticeable sourness present. The taste is decent as well. It's easy drinking if your not put off by the sour character. The rest of the beer is pretty standard. It well balanced and brewed in accordance to the IS style. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is very drinkable and a fine variation on the traditional imperial stout.
