Scored a growler of this while dining at The tap with Alewife on 03DEC10. Opted to share this with her today while watching another Pats blowout victory....
Color is a deep, slightly muted chestnut, with a smidge of haze. A hard pour didn't churn up much head, simply a thin layer of tan bubbles, most of which head to the edge of the glass. There's a little lace here and there in the glass, too. Aroma has some nice sweetness, with caramel and toffee being quite evident and inviting. Has a decently smooth feel, though it is a bit on the thinner side of medium for body.
As for flavor, there's more caramel and toffee here, as well, though it's not overly sweet. Has a decent dash of maltiness at the outset, then it slides into a subtle hoppy stage. Nothing over the top here either. This one is pretty straightforward and simple; nothing over the top in any respect. Likely a one-and-done for both of us...
Prosit!!
