I'm surprised to see this beer listed but without any reviews. I'll be the first, but the beer I had does not fit this category--I'd place it in the Schwarzbier category. Also, the ABV was below 6%.
The appearance is black where no light could possibly pass. There is a thin beige head (bar pour) that leaves some streaky lace on the glass.
This beer smells like a stout--lots of burnt malt aromas. There's also an element of dark, unsweetened cocoa. Very bitter.
The taste actually has a stronger burnt feel than the smell. Think a lagered Beamish (the harshest of Irish Stouts in my humble opinion). The aftertaste is like sucking on wasted coffee grounds. The body is on the thin side.
Overall, this is a big flavored beer with a few interesting elements to the drinkers' interest.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
