Was a little reluctant to pick this up a 10% Doppelbock really isn't something I want to enjoy during the late spring early summer months. As expected, it has a lot of booze to it with spicy notes of hops bread and a touch of caramel malts. Every sip is pretty extreme hitting you in the face but then mellowing out with a bit of raisin skin and a touch of dark chocolate. I could see this being very impressive in a bourbon barrel, but as itself it's a pretty intimidating Brew. Hopefully I can see better results in other beers I've picked up from the company. This was my first dive into what they bring to the table

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This very nice doppelbock pours a
dark red tinged mahogany with a nice head of khaki foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and displays some nice lacing. Nose of
molasses, dark chocolate, dark breaded malts, and spicy alcohol phenol
notes. Flavors surpass the nose with with molasses, raisin, light anise,
chocolate, subtle coffee, and dark breaded malts and bread crust. Mouth
feel is medium, medium light prickly carbonation, smooth, moderately warming,
and finishing moderately sweet and subtly dry.
Overall, a solid little brew
Cheers

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a ruby-brown color with a tiny fizzy just off white head. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a caramel smell mixed with other sweet aromas of molasses and dark fruit smells of cherry and plum. The smell is very sweet, but is balanced slightly by some other aromas of a bready and lightly toasted smell.
Taste – The taste begins just as you may expect from the nose. The sweetness is massive!! There is tons of caramel and molasses mixed with a cherry prune taste. There is also tons of malt of a lightly toasted brown bread flavor as well as lots of dough and biscuit malt. These tastes all create a base taste for the brew and last throughout the flavor profile. After the initial some boozy flavors hit the tongue and are joined by a little bit of oak and herb. At the end a sorta off hot and malty taste comes to the tongue along with a touch of hay and nut, one is left with a sweet and sorta hot taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and syrupy with a carbonation level that is low. While the flavors are big, the feel is appropriate for them and makes this a slow mouth coating sipper
Overall – This is sweet and big!! You have to be ready for it!! It a fun one to try if you get the chance!
