We’re highlighting the best of what a pecan Porter offers with additions of maple, coffee, and oak. Maple sweetness balances out the base beer‘s characteristic nutty, earthy dryness, while the coffee additions further embolden the porter’s carafe malt. The finishing Oak tailors the sweet maple, leaving a complex and delightful collaboration of bold coffee, earthy pecans, sweet maple, and oak.

L: Dark cola hue with a skinny finger of khaki suds, settling quickly to a thin ring and leaving a equally thin band of lace.
S: Whoo sweet on the nose. Lots of maple and cocoa. Plenty of pecan, vanilla, and coffee too. Expecting a big taste.
T: Bigger than expected. The flavors may be balanced but are amped to to the point of artificial. It’s cloyingly sweet also. Could use a roastier counterpoint.
F: Medium weight. Smooth but heavy prickling carbonation. Boozy.
O: This came off as a newbie attempt to throw it all in! Dial it back along with the residual sugars, a bit more roast and balance, and they may be on their way to a great beer. A long row to hoe though.

A Tavour treat. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma is coffee and maple syrup. Taste is coffee and pecans. Slightly warming, probably due to the high ABV of the beer. Enjoyable.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short light tan head that left a wide collar around the edge of the glass and a patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of pecans, chocolate, coffee and molasses are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of maple
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer does a very good job at equally showcasing the pecan, coffee and maple flavors. It's rather drinkable considering its strength as the alcohol is mostly masked from the taste.
Serving type: can

Poured at 58 degrees yields a fast fizzy tan head that vanished like magic; no cap retention, thin incomplete ring, and spots of lace with agitation; ruby brown body, ok clarity; thin legs. Chocolate malt, toasted pecans... coffee? Taste upfront is strong smokey burnt molasses; maple, charred oak, burnt marshmallow sugar middle; barest of toasted pecans, no coffee. Medium light body, moderate minus carbonation; mouth warmth from 12.7% abv; alcohol burns tip of tongue; dry wooden finish. Overall, there is a long burnt candy linger, if you like that; the barrel notes blanket the base and adjuncts; as I drink, I keep thinking of eating “burnt ends” at Franklins’ BBQ in Austin, and while I love brisket, it is not a flavor I want to taste in a beer...one and done.
