903 Blueberry cake donut (3.75, 4, 3.5, 3.75, 3.5)
Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazy purplish-blue color with a one finger head of puffy white foam. The head fades super-fast leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is huge of a blueberry smell mixed with a nice vanilla cream aroma. Along with these smells comes notes of a bready and doughy smell as well as notes powdered sugar. Overall, it smells a lot like a blueberry cake donut.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice sweet bready and doughy taste that is matched by a whole lot of blueberry sweetness. The blueberry is almost more of a blueberry syrup like flavor, being rather syrupy and potent. At the same time there are some light crème and vanilla tastes upfront, with these getting stronger as the taste moves forward. At the same time there is a little bit of light grain and herb that develop. The set of flavors take the taste to its end, where they leave one with a very sweet and chewy, sugary blueberry taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly more thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the mix of sweet blueberry and pastry dessert nature of the brew, the feel is great and makes for a nice easy sipper overall.
Overall – Very sweet. Certainly, a great blueberry dessert brew. Fun to try.
