Originally reviewed on 08MAY21 as the regular Kilt Switch..... which, ah reckon, is not barrel-aged....

Enjoying from a 0.5l bottle, courtesy of elder daughter Caitlin. Label says "Batch 3" and "Aged 18 months".

Pours a dark, murky, opaque mahogany color. Has a thin, rim-clinging beige head, with light lacing. Has a rich, boozy nose, with dark fruit (think raisins and dates), caramel and toffee. Body is a lovely medium-plus, and it is silky smooth going down the hatch.

Taste is also rich, boozy and sweet. Has more dates and raisins, prunes and black cherry. All this is mixed in with some caramel. Finish is smooth, boozy, rich and sweet. Definitely a sipper, and a tasty one at that! Prosit!

A: The beer is jet black when viewed from afar but has traces of brownish hues near the edge of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of whiskey are present in the nose along with notes of dark fruit.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of caramel/vanilla with hints of orange citrus in the finish.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this beer rather easy to drink considering its strength as a lot of the alcohol is masked from the taste.

Found this at the best local bottle shop. No price tags until rung up (this isn’t a Specs or Total Wine) so when it hit above $18 I nearly put it back but what the heck since that means only a dollar or two more with this mom & pop.
Rich brown pour, some lacing.
Nose is like a butterscotch cake, with apple, caramel, some molasses, brown sugar, hints of some spice.
Taste is of the same flavors as in the nose. The main feature I get is butterscotch-apple cider.
Feels full and slightly sticky. Ends moderately dry.
This is a big scotch ale, very decent. I don’t know why I can’t find any info on this variant on the brewery’s site. Only one other site appears to have info on it, putting it at 13.9% abv. Feels about right.
