Our latest pastry cream ale is brewed with marshmallow, vanilla, a hint of cherry and a healthy dose of a cereal that's both lucky and charming. Those familiar flavors found in our favorite Saturday morning cereal give this cream ale notes of marshmallow puffs, frosted oats, and light fruitiness. This cream ale is sweet but balanced, creamy yet light, and pinkish in hue. It's magically brewlicious.

Poured from a can into a snifter glass
Appearance – The beer pours a reddish tinted clear golden amber color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head fades super-fast, leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is huge of a crème smell mixed with a big showing of a vanilla and cherry. Along with these aromas comes notes of oatmeal and a fruity marshmallow like smell. These smells are accompanied by a bit of graininess and a touch of caramel, overall producing a very big and sweet smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a a very corn syrup and caramel sweet flavor that is matched by a big vanilla marshmallow flavor. Right from the start there is a big milky/creamy taste as well as some flavors of oat and grain. The oat and crème get stronger as the taste advances while some flavors of cherry and plum develop on the tongue. These later flavors get stronger in nature and are joined by a rather big boozy taste. The boozy with the cherry give an almost cough syrup like flavor to the brew, and with the mix of other flavors, leaves one with a creamy and hot, somewhat medicinal taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather low. For the crème ale and big nature of the brew the feel is OK, although all said, a bit more carbonation may have made this brew a bit less cloying and more approachable.
Overall – A very interesting brew to say the least. I think they just went a bit over the top in alcohol, which really ended up detracting from the flavors in the end, due to the more medical like qualities it brought when combined with the rest. Overall, it was fun to try, and if they targeted a similar brew, with a abv. in the range of 6-8, I think it would be pretty good.
