Appearance: All but black in color, with a modest tan head, which soon collapses to a fine layer of foam on the surface. The lacing is a fine-beaded sheet, coating the glass wall without a break. Streams of minute bubbles trace the inside of the glass wall, drifting lazily to the surface.
Aroma: The aroma is startling, presenting a dense aroma of vanilla buttercream frosting. as well as sweet chocolate, vanilla cake, coffee, and mild, spicy alcohol.
Taste: Upon tasting, my first impression is of espresso and sweet chocolate, vanilla and brown sugar, soon followed by spicy and warming alcohol, this last being quite gracious. Afterward, the espresso notes and roasted malt and brown sugar are ascendant, particularly the malt. As the taste draws to its end The roasted malt and brown sugar via for supremacy, with the result being an amicable truce and the two flavors lingering on and on.
Mouth feel: Quite full and soft, like whole milk, with just a hint of sharp carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: To call this a dessert beer seems an extreme understatement. it would obviously pair extremely well with chocolate or vanilla desserts, particularly cake.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a La Fin du Monde tulip.
