The overriding taste is astringent peanuts. Like when u get a bad one and immediately want to spit it out. Yuck.

Been saving this one for quite some time and it was pretty worth the wait...

Now, I really never grew up with "haystack" cookies, but the description on the can sure made me wish I had. The beer certainly made me think I missed something in my youth as it was a pretty decent dessert beer, something certainly to have on hand and enjoy during the holidays.

The pour is jet black with a tan & frothy head of foam. The taste is dark & sweet roasted malt, dark chocolate, peanut butter, oatmeal, along with some hints of licorice, butterscotch, & brown sugar. Moreover, the 10% abv drinks more like an 8% abv. Overall, this was an okay Imperial Stout. Cheers! B

Another one of the many beers I picked up at the Vintage Estate this one based on a oat cookie called a Haystack? Never had one but any beer brewed with peanut butter and chocolate sounds like a winner. Deep dark wow looking stout with a 1/2 inch of frothy mocha foam on top. Excellent aroma like a peanut butter coffee sweet and pungent. Well the hops are really fighting in this one clashing with the ABV of the 10% leaving some sting to the palate. I do get some peanut butter not bad it comes off dry with the hops and the chocolate is more bittersweet than anything. Its almost good sips are sweet than bitter but I do wish for sweeter stouts like this maybe less hops? It would bring the ABV down a bit but I think it would work better.
