Like Grandma’s semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies hot from the oven, CACAO’s aroma is irresistibly tempting. The tightly-laced tan head and dark brown color invites your palate to experience CACAO’s richly smooth texture and creamy dark chocolate flavor, giving way to a clean, earthy hop ending.

Had on tap. Very dark brown body with a cap of tan foam. Smell and taste are the same, simple yet well done: bittersweet dark cocoa, coffee, caramel, and some dark fruit skins. Little thin for an american porter, but somewhat chewy, very smooth and rich. Would have again for sure

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. Sticker on label has 'BT1176CP 011017'.
Dark brown colored body, with brown highlights when presented to light. Three finger tan head settles to thick and bubbly cap. Some spots and strings of lacing.
Aroma of light roasted malts and chocolate.
Taste is roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate, with moderate souring.
Medium to coating mouth feel.
The sour taste aspect spoils the rest of the beer.

Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a light brown head of foam. It smelled of coffee and dark chocolate. Good roasted coffee flavor with chocolate, toffee and some bitterness.

here is a beer (and a brewery in general) that straight up is not getting enough love. these guys make some really neato beers, and this is near the top. a cocoa laden strong porter with all the earth bitter bite of a rich bakers chocolate and all the smoothness and body of a sturdy english porter, its comforting and warming and inviting without trying too hard, it reminds me of deep winter, and not just because its from minnesota. there is a strong hot chocolate connotation here, and its really awesome, bitter though too, more culinary than kiddie, appreciated. tons of grain weight too, no corners cut, meaty even, more than robust, brownie batter, fudge in form, raw and refined simultaneously. i have not had a ton of beer from these guys, but nobody talks about it, and its worthy of conversation, this one especially. this would do well in colorado i reckon, the right kind of chocolate for a beer like this. next time i am in minnesota i will make a point to pay these guys a visit, they have earned it with this one...

650ml bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark brown body, one finger offwhite head, not much retention or lacing. Smells of cocoa, coffee, milk chocolate, touch of roast. Not too complicated, but it's decent. Flavour is similarly standard porter with a bit more dark chocolate flavour. Mouthfeel is thinner bodied, nothing too substantial, but no off flavours or overtly thin body to distract from the beer. It's a standard porter with more of a bitter cocoa presence, nothing more than that.
