Bottle, 2005: Wow! This is power Xmas. Nice medium sized, foamy and lasting, beige head. Dark brown colour with red corners. Lively carbonation. Aroma of burned malt, liquorice, coffee and dried fruit. Flavour with the same components and some tobacco, dark chocolate and berries (cranberries?) too. Full bodied. Long sweet/bitter finish. A very enjoyable and balanced Christmas ale.
Bottle, 2004: Enjoyed Dec. 2005; the beer is now more mature in its character. The aroma is less fruity, but now with some port in the aroma.

2003 edition.
50 cl bottle w/ resealable cap, served in tall Menabrea glass.
Pours an opaque, darkish brown w/ a good-sized tan head. Impressive aroma full of dark fruit notes. Taste is superbly rounded and full w/ a fat, chewy mouthfeel. Highly complex, the initial assault of dark fruit (prunes, dates, figs?) and sugary goodness giving way to a long, satisfying, slightly bitter finish. Good drinkability.
A magnificent brew; easily the best Danish beer I've had. Can't wait to see how this one'll age - the brewer promises that it can be cellared for at least ten years.
