The liquid is clear (bottle conditioned); the colour dark red-brown. The foam sinks down with a fizzing sound, leaving a finger thick pale beige head. No lacing.
The smell is loaded with dry roasted malt. There are also notes of fresh bitter hops and a touch of yeast and dark rye bread.
The taste is fresh with lightly roasted dry malt and a fine rigid bitterness. Some yeasty notes, minerals and buttery diacetyl. The aftertaste is rather mild with a fine balance of creamy malt (rye bred) and a growing bitter almost citric flavour.
The carbonation is strong; lots of small refreshing bubbles. The mouthfeel is gently creamy.
A good Vienna lager with more personality then most beers of this style.
