Poured a hazy yellowy gold into the glass. Very bubbly, it started to foam over after I opened the bottle. Enjoyable, but not a standout among the many fine Belgian Strong Ales.

Another Belgian ale which I bought in Brussels back in May. The pricetag of €2.75 remains atop the bottle cap. Looking at the label, it appears that a Bavarian barmaid decided to runoff to Belgium in high red boots with a beer in one hand. No women tonight, but you can bet that beer is on my mind. From a 330 ml bottle, on to the beer:
It's a heady brew, being over an inch thick in foam. Below is the beer, which is brightly fool's gold colored with small visible bubbles racing to the top. A beauty as it sits in my Kasteel glass. The aroma is modest, dry, a bit spicy from the hops, also has a dry grainy note, akin to the leftover malt after it has been through the wort.
Something about this beer is great, and something about this beer makes me wish for more. Its mouthfeel is wonderful; very smooth and quite creamy. The taste is where I'm confused. It does have a dry and somewhat light flavor, though there's an unpleasant grainy note which ruins the tasting for me. A little kiss of citrus and dry sweetness make good marks on this beer, a good thing considering my dislike for its one major off-flavor.
Looks great and feels great, but taste-wise is probably closer to Jupiler than Duvel. Beer & Character? How about just beer?

A: hazy, golden colour, a nice dense white head
S: belgian yeast, sweet malts and fruit
T: sweet honey, caramel, citrus, grassy hops, spice and a long bitter aftertaste
M: full body, rather low carbonation
O: a textbook BSPA, brings nothing new to the table but still a solid offering
