Ol' Snaggletooth:
Appearance: Light amber/ dark wheat in color. No head because it was poured into a sampler shot glass.
Smell: Caramel malt, pine forest. The sweet malt is the most forefront characteristic, followed by caramel on the nose.
Taste&Mouthfeel: The sweet caramel malt is very well balanced with the hops. Pine is prevalent, with slight grapefruit and citrus on the back-end. Fits the bill perfectly for an American Strong Ale. The malt is not cloyingly sweet, which is very refreshing for such a heavy brew.
Overall: Actually this brew was rather surprising! It reminded me of Sierra Bigfoot, only not quite as hoppy, and obviously a little different for stylistic purposes. Probably one of the better offerings from Highway One.
