On tap in Vienna. Dark brown color with a small amount of off-white head. Roasted malt smell. Medium body. Sweet caramel malt flavors. Decent with food, a little sweet on its own.

.5L bottle dated 11/2012 purchased and consumed in Austria.
Dark brown with a small head. The aroma features medium and dark malts. It is lightly fruity with a hint of herbal hops.
T: rather sweet, but not quite objectionable. Still, it it remains more sweet than bitter even in the finish, yet has a very lightly bitter aftertaste.
M: medium body and near medium carbonation, making it moderately lively.
O: Average, at best, dunkle. [3.25]

A- rich brown color with copious amounts of head and lace. Much better looking than I would have guessed.
S- Pretty much all malt. Pretty boring.
T- yeah, still really malty, but at leat the malt can be classified as carmel, with some molassases notes too.
O- Much better than others have been saying, this is a really nice session beer, especially for those who prefer maltiness.

Found in a Vienna supermarket, the standard brown half-liter bottle sports a white, brown and gold label featuring a coat of arms above the label. No real ingredient information. Best before 3/31/07, I opened it on 11/13/06.
Pours clear and a color somewhere between cola and tea, with a short-lived 1/2 finger white head that manages to disappear completely in very little time at all, lending more credence to the notion that this stuff looks like a cola. The nose is very mild, with just a hint of the sweet caramel to come. The mouth is medium-carbonated and slightly heavy, bringing back memories of cough syrup. The taste is typical of an Austrian dark beer - achingly sweet, full of caramel and sugar, with vague notes of grape but no hint of hops, or malt for that matter. The finish is sweet, the aftertaste is sweet, everything is sweet. It is a travesty to call this a "Munich Dunkles," as Munich beers are nowhere near as sweet. It is a decent rendition of Austria's interpretation of the style, however. I feel, though, that I need to brush my teeth right away to get all that sugar off. Certainly not for me, but Globetrotterette actually enjoys this type occasionally.

Brown cocacola-like color. Also the foam is cocacola-like, brownish.
Essentially caramel in the smell, and nothing more. Maybe just a hint of burnt.
The taste is all caramel, too sweet and heavy, and not drinkable.
But too sugary in mouth.
Absolutely low in drinkability.
