Golden color, mid-sized white head. The aroma of grain and caramel malt. The taste is moderately sweet and grainy. Bittersweet aftertaste. Drinkable.

First of all, I owe a short explsnation why I picked up this mundane beer. Having grown up in Hungary, seeing Steffl on the shelves was a common sight - if not the real thing but its Hungarian brewed version at least. I don't recall having tasted it but as all the other Hungarian brewed foreign beers, it must be crap as well (see its review here on BA). Then finding the original gave me hope this might still be okay.
Since it is a märzen, I thought it could be okay but it seems like they use this term in Austria like we do lager back home. Looked and smelled nothing special but the taste was worse than that. Started out as a märzen then it quickly fades into a kind of thin, watery, carbonated dry paper-bitterness - and with this I said it all. I had it for dinner, along with beans and it was okay, it is okay with food when you don't need to feel its taste. Could have been worse but at least it's good to know not to chase rainbows anymore with this, as this is low quality too.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
