Sour Gruit with mint, basil and ginger. TA 9.1
Description: Made entirely with MN malt and locally grown basil, mint and ginger. Golden, bright, herbal, fresh, and pungent this absolutely local creation finishes crisp, dry and mouth-puckeringly tart and leaves you thinking of dreaming of the best summer days.
From the tap. Pours a cloudy yellow colour. Tart and juicy nose, sweet red grape juice aroma, ginger and herbaceous nose. Light and grape juicy throughout, lingers on with a tangy juicy grape finish. Dry after palate. Mild ginger body, earthy notes, fresh vegetal bits, slight spice and musty grain notes, and a tiny bit of basil-mint but not as prevalent as the ginger and fruitiness. Pretty good, a decent and fun beer with an unconventional style-twist.
