pint served in dimpled mug on cask at the Old Bell Tavern in London on April 18, 2018
L: dark brown/purplish amber with lackluster head of beige foam, not much more than a full cap
S: roasty, almost burnt or charred wood, lots of roasted malt character
T: same as nose with more char-wood flavor, very close to burnt, plenty bitter
F: solid, perhaps a bit on the flat side but still full of the good cask ale feel of a soft center inside a crispy outer layer
O: a very good brew and worth trying; at 3.8% ABV, it's a solid choice to change up a session of pints
