Kolsch is a light ale fermented with a special ale yeast strain that is capable of fermentation at lager temperatures. As with most lager styles, Kolsch is light in body and golden in color. The beer has a clean, crisp palate with a soft dry finish. Hopping is light to allow a slight hop flavor and subtle spiciness from the Polish Marynka hops.

On tap. Poured out a clear, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of sweet caramel and floral notes. Sweet toasted caramel with a mild bitter bite.

Pours a clear, copper/orange color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, sweet malt, hint of caramel, and slight citrus. Fits the style of a Kolsch. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, sweet malt, hint of hops, and slight earthy fullness. Overall, an odd blend, but about average.
