Dunkel is a German lager that ranges from light brown to dark brown with a malty flavor and aroma that predominates over a moderate hop bitterness. Our version is dark and uses 5 specialty malts to achieve its color and malt flavors. German Tettnang hops were used for bittering, complementing an authentic German yeast strain used for fermentation.

Pours a dark amber color. 1/4 inch head with decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt and roasted malt. Fits the style of a Munich Dunkel Lager. Mouth feel is smooth and slightly thick with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt up front, then roasted malt, slight hop background, and a lingering caramel sweetness. Overall, a really smooth beer, with lots of body - definitely worth a try.

A - Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a foamy, two-finger, tan head. It left some trails of lace.

S - It smelled very roasty with a nice caramel nose. It was slightly floral.

T - It comes across very malty sweet with some nice caramel and toffee flavors. Bitterness is present but extremely mild.

M - It was crisp and sharp with a smooth finish. A light bodied beer.

D - This is another very nice brew from the brewers at Flat Branch. Easy drinking and makes a good session brew.
