On draught at the brewpub. Pint pour. It pours a pretty orange-brown color with a thin, milk-white head that dissipated quickly leaving a fairly thick sheen of lacing. The smell is rather subdued - mostly caramel malt and light floral hops. Its taste opens with big, sweet caramel malt, followed by a dose of dry, bitter hops, and a slightly peppery finish. I wish that the hop bill was identified on the menu. There is also some very faint citrus. It's well balanced between sweet and bitter. It features a fairly creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation, and its punchy 7.5% ABV gives it character. Overall, C4 is a nice rendition of an English-style malty IPA with a DIPA kick. For a small brewpub, it's a fine offering. It paired nicely with a roast beef and bacon sandwich with provolone and avocado.
