Sanibel Red is our spin on an Irish Red Ale. Notes of toffee and caramel and a nice red color from the light addition of Roasted Barley.

I had this on the recommendation of my waiter at the Mucky Duck on Captiva Island. I was very pleased.
This is one of the better red ales that I have had recently. It is a nice dark red color with a rich malty smell and taste. It has just enough hops for bitterness. It really excels in the mouthfeel category.
I really enjoyed this beer. The location was pretty awesome too.

very rarely does a straight up red ale excite me, and this one doesnt really in any particular way, but from a quality standpoint, its a lot better than a whole mess of other red or amber types out there, which often come across as throwaway beers for some brewers. this is neat, almost has some scotch ale elements to it. deep brick red in color, even with a brown hue in the dim light in their taproom. it smells sweet at first but then bready, baked, caramelized, and even faintly peaty to me, but im allowing this to warm up and open up, and im wanting to like it a lot, and so i do. not too sweet in the taste, slightly overcooked biscuit, honey, toffee, graham cracker, crumbs. minerals and a yeast strain with some flavor, almonds or something nutty, faint weird euro malt, but in a good way. i get that scotch ale earthy element and the heft as well, and this ends up quite a bit more complex than most of these ever do, i like the irish type ale yeast drying it out at the end too. not overly refined either, which i think helps a beer like this. good stuff, sessionable and not boring!

A glass of garnet - colored liquid appears in front of me. Small off-white head drops to a thin ring quickly. No lace.
Smell is weak. What a pears is coffee and toasted malt.
Taste is coffee forward, burnt malt, some herbal. Balance? What balance? Well, it does balance in the aftertaste.
Body is medium-ish, carbonation is harsh on the tip of the tongue but evens out quickly. Clean finish, dry, too. Not a bad brew if you like coffee (I dont). Otherwise, pretty solid.

On tap in the brewpub, this beer pours a copper-amberish hue with a small white head. The aroma was simple, malt with a bit of hops, but for some reason it stuck with me. The taste absolutely floored me; I have never tried a beer of this style that perplexed me so much. It was simple, but amazingly delicious. I could drink this all day.
