Modern Times visits Garage Project for firecrackers and fun on the 5th of November. Here’s the result. Whizz Bang, a sparky little hop rocket brewed with Riwaka, American Mystery Hop #07270 and a little touch of Gunpowder. So light the fuse, retreat to a comfortable spot and watch the sparks fly.

Draught pour at City Tavern into a shaker pint. Pours a hazy dirty bronze with a finger of white medium density head that left some lacing. Nose is mucho tropical, very enjoyable. Perhaps some very subtle citrus. Taste is more balanced between citrus and tropical attributes. Finish is a bit dry, fair amount of astringency but limited bitterness. Mouthfeel was on the softer side, carbonation on the high side. Enjoyed this one, would repeat.

A: Lots of berry, tropical fruit, light stone fruit hops with light malt support.
A: Golden color, totally clear with a moderate white head that has solid retention. There is lots of lacing left in the glass.
T: Lot of berry, tropical fruit, stone fruit hops, clean, with a light malt support. There is a moderately high hop bitterness that lingers through the finish.
M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: Pretty tasty; very hop forward without being vegetal. The beer has a great hop aroma and flavor and very clean. The hop bitterness is a light higher, than expected but in no way takes anything away from the beer.
