Had this at the Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival on November 11, 2017. I thought it was the best beer of the day. Pours black for the most part, a little brown, and a lighter brown head 1/3" on the top. Good retention for a barrel aged beer. Aroma smacked nicely of coffee, bourbon, chocolate, almond and chicory. Really divine nose on this one.
Taste, wow, even more decadent and complex. First there is a counter acting amount of vanilla that smoothes out the roasted malt and coffee. It also provides nice cover for the big amount of alcohol. The coffee used here is very primo. The blend of an old ale and an imperial stout provides more chocolate, caramel and toffee flow throughout the beer. I wish I let it warm a little more, but it went down so easy and quickly.
Would totally bang this again or pick up a bottle.
