This 12% dessert barleywine was meticulously layered with coffee, chicory, almond and Vanilla. The result is a beer that is both mind bendingly complex and immensely satisfying.

Appearance - Pours black with tan head that settles to a thin ring with no lacing.
Aroma - Lots of rich coffee, chocolate, vanilla, plum , fig smells more of a stout that a barleywine.
Taste - huge coffee, roasted malts, lots of dark fruit much more than the nose. burnt sugar, vanilla, plum.
Feel - Full bodied creamy super smooth no sign of the alcohol.
Overall - Really well done Barleywine, great flavors easy drinking.

On tap at the source. A slightly hazy copper-brown color with a small tan head. Huge coffee aroma. Some raisin and stone fruit as well. The taste was full of fruit. Raisins, plums, caramel, some toffee, and faint coffee. Much less bitter than expected and the coffee provided balance. Full bodied. Definitely a supper and a dessert type drink. Very sweet but delicious.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Yellow Session. Copper color, brownish head. Aroma has sweet, sugary notes, some dried fruits and dark bread crust. Taste is also sweet and sugary with dried fruit notes like dates and raisins.

Liquid gold in a glass right here. Its thick and boozy but not overpowering. The addition of coffee and chicory pair well with the normal maltiness and sweetness of the barley wine. The coffee tones down the sugary taste but the vanilla adds depth. At first it has sort of an iced tea thing going on - in a good way. Then, you get hit with a booziness and finally it finishes with a light punch from the coffee.
This beer will put a stumble in your step at over 11% but its worth the risk as this is a tasty MFer.
