Received in a trade and shared with JLindros. Canned on 8/21/18
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a thin mocha head that fades to leave light wisps and nice legs.
S - Aromas of big chocolate and, somehow, oxidation. Flashes of pistachio nuttiness, almost chocolate pistachio pudding like. No coconut though.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with unfortunate oxidation. Flashes of vanilla and nuts, light pistachio. There's chocolate syrup too but man is this oxidized.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, almost flat, super syrupy and thick.
O - Overall this was a very disappointing beer. Super oxidized, no coconut, syrupy mess. Really, really unfortunate.

Pours a thick basically pitch black beer, tan small head with medium-low retention, thick long legs
Nose dark chocolate and roast, a little char, fudgey, cardboard oxidation notes, very faint pistachio nutty like character, a touch of fruit, spicy hops
Taste sweet chocolate syrupy, cocoa butter, light oxidation cardboard and vinous characters, syrupy with a little alcohol character, a touch nutty and maybe pistachio if you really try to find it, sweet sugar and syrup, dry but sticky bitter finish
Mouth is fuller bod, rich thick chewy, light carb, mild warming alcohol
Overall another let down

16oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours black and viscous with a one-finger creamy khaki head that reduces to a ring around the edge
S- dark chocolate and roast, along with coconut, brown sugar and coffee
T- big hit of coconut up front, immediately followed by what tastes like rum notes, surprisingly. Mid-palate gives some pistachio notes, as well as molasses and dark chocolate. The finish brings out some roasted notes with a sweet malty linger
M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a viscous finish

Not my favorite Modern Times stout. Flavor was rich and chocolate, with a little vanilla, but no detectable pistachio. Body was good. A little boozy, and even boozier as it warms. Solid, but not impressive.
