22 oz bomber into a snifter.

Super creamy, chocolatey pastry stout. Ample coffee and vanilla notes, milkshake-like. These MT keep getting better because their adjuncts just add enough deliciousness without changing the base flavor. Absolute knock out brew.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like creamy coconut candy, sweet coffee, vanilla, spicy bourbon, and caramel.

This isn’t quite up to the lofty heights of the best coffee and/or coconut stouts from Modern Times, but it’s still tasty. I want a bit more bitterness from the coffee or the barrel. The coconut is done well, sweet, creamy, and candy-like, with a sort of vanilla-like coffee creamer thing. I want a bolder coffee flavor here, though.

This is medium bodied and very creamy, with a bit more sweetness than usual for Modern Times. There’s basically no booziness here.

The Beastmonster Espresso Macaroon from this same brewery was significantly better, but I still do like this one a decent amount.

Sweet dark chocolate, roasty coffee, coconut-milk creamer, and hint of vanilla bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows with a coffee forward, chocolate and coconut, and balanced barrel finish. That espresso coffee bitterness/roastiness comes out more as it warms...the bourbon barrels peek out more as well. This is pretty good!

absurd beer, as epic for texture as it is for flavor, its amazing how many things these guys do not just well, but as gold standard, i was sad to see them reduce their footprint and a number of locations recently, glad they are still at least doing it in some capacity. this might be the best variant of this i have ever had, its incredible. midnight black pour, decent airy mocha colored head on it, settles quick, leggy and viscous, but not sloppy. the aroma and flavor and texture are wild, its almost greasy to me, like the coconut oil is in here too, no doubt its real coconut then, amazing the impact it has right away, its like fatty and slick, and its the first thing i smell and the last thing i taste, heavy but unique enough to be appealing, and of course brilliant with the espresso in this, probably house roasted if they are still doing coffee, earthy, concentrated, will brewed, and very complex, low acid but not low bitterness, which i cool because the sweetness of the dessert side of this definitely needs a counterpoint, which comes as a one two punch, first the dark almost burnt barley, the light smoke and woody depth it has, then the warm but also intensely bitter coffee, incredibly decadent and deep, smooth and forever on the palate. the bourbon factor is high too, some appreciable alcohol in the mix, a sweet vanilla note complimenting the coconut, and come barrel char too, so long and good. impressive balance for its size, colossal texture but not diabetic, and i like feeling the coconut as i taste it. lots of flavor in this, but nothing overpowering, and its still big stout first. cant say enough about this one, wow!

2022 edition aged in Four Roses barrels. On tap at Modern Times. Pours black. Nose is espresso, bourbon, almonds, walnuts, chocolate. The taste is chocolate, walnuts, mint, peanut butter, and bourbon. Amazing and smooth. Overall, a fantastic beer.

Poured into a snulip, the beer was jet black and impenetrable to light. It left only the slightest crown of bubbles in place of a head. The aroma was full of bourbon, chocolate, bitter espresso, and coconut. The flavor brought all of that and then some. The bourbon was present without being overpowering. The espresso had the distinct flavor of the dust that tops a decadent tiramisu. That bitter espresso worked perfectly with the bitter dark chocolate while the coconut appeared mostly on the finish. This could have easily gone into cloyingly sweet territory, but that wasn't the case. The feel was full bodied with a luscious mouthfeel. Absolutely wonderful beer that really wowed me.

12 oz. can. Inky black. Smells of coconut, bourbon, and coffee. Smells rich. Tastes intense. Coffee and coconut in equal doses. Bourbon, sweet fudge and lots of boozy coffee in the finish. Heavy, sweet, and really tasty. It's big and stupid and quite tasty.

Pours a deep black with a thin medium tan head that dissipated quickly and left minimal lacing.

The smell coconut, dark chocolate, minimal coffee, and all of it very sweet.

The taste is super sweet chocolate, tons of coconut and with a chocolate covered espresso bean and coconut finish that lingers. I'm not getting much barrel presence and the abv is hidden very well but shows it's presence with a bit of a bite up front and a lingering flavor.

The mouthfeel is thick, low carbonation but slightly fizzy.

Overall this is incredibly well done, very sweet, a great mix of flavors, and tasty. I HATE coconut and it's definitely there, but it's balanced enough that I'll enjoy this beer. The only knock I'd have is it's so sweet it may be a cloying by the end.

Poured from can into glass. Was dark in color. Smelled of coconut and coffee. Wasn’t thick maybe medium in texture. Boy was I in for a surprise when the coconut kicked in. This is one of the best modern times barrel aged cans.
