Collaboration with Wayfinder Beer
Our brewers in Portland got together with our homies at Wayfinder Beer to create this stellar Helles. Naturally carbonated through a method called "spunding," this lager is beautifully bright and effervescent, with subtle hints of toasted bread and honey. Ridiculously drinkable and balanced, Abaddon was brewed with German malts and hopped with Perle and Hallertau Mittlefruh to give it an expressive take on a traditional style.

19.2 oz. can. Pours clear golden. Smells of sweet bready malt and light earthy hops. Tastes about the same. Sweet dough and earthy hops. Sweetness lingers in the back end. Medium light. Easy to drink, but doesn't burst with flavor. Good.

Lightly hazed gold with two fingers of yellowed head. Decent retention and nice rings of lacing.
Corn and some sulfury light skunkiness (which I enjoy) in the aroma.
More sharply bitter than expected both up front and in the finish. More corn and breadiness in the taste as well, coupled with an almost pilly quality.
Relatively light bodied with a very strong zip to the carbonation.
The over-hopped bitterness doesn’t strike the right balance to me, clashing with the softness of the cornbread elements. 6/9/21 canning date.

Crystal clear straw gold body. Excellent appearance. Great head production but fairly poor retention, and very little scattered lacing.

Pours crystal clear- somewhat effervescent. A vigorous pour provides a 4-finger head - white and sudsy. That head dissipates until just a thin layer of foam remains on the top of the head. Some soapy lacing is left on the glass. Aroma has notes of grain, white bread, grassy hops with a touch spiciness.
Taste has notes of lightly toasted white bread, a hint of grain, really clean and refreshing. Back end gives way to a spicy, herbal, grassy hop note. Hops are moderately bitter. Its really a simple, but excellently executed lager. Feel is light, smooth, easy drinking, and refreshing.

Thanks to Dimidiata for this one from a recent ninja box as part of NBS #12. 19.whatever oz can (dated 7/16/20) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a bright, clean, clear gold color with an inch of of bright white head that had decent retention and lacing.
The aroma was grain forward, slightly sweet, and had pleasant floral hops and just a touch of yeast.
Pretty similar on the palate, nice grains, floral hops, and that whisper of yeast at the back end.
The body was light, crisp, clean, and had a dry finish.
Drinkability was very good, this could easily be an all-day quaffer.
Overall, a pretty good take on the style. Worth grabbing if you see it.

Bottle share at Rev Nat's. Golden body with light haze, small foamy head. Big grassy, grainy aromas and taste, malty, light bitter edge. Spot on for the style.

Can from the Belmont Fermentorium.
A beautiful crystal clear orange with a dense, white head with great retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is soft, doughy, pillowy and with a little honey but also a firm, lemony hop character. Mild mint, mild eucalyptus notes. Brilliant balance all-round. The palate opens with a touch of doughy sweetness to go with the light honey, cotton candy notes, along with a beautiful crisp, snappy lemony hop note. Harmonious , well integrated, this is an excellent Helles. Maybe just a hint too sweet but spectacular otherwise.

Harmonious , well integrated, this is an excellent Helles. Maybe just a hint too sweet but spectacular otherwise.

My beef with Modern Times is their "artistic" style of cans require you to have a live website in order to determine what you're drinking. Their original cans list all the hops and grains plus some helpful style descriptions. However, this mystery can pours a very tasty lighter sort of beer and if BA says it's a Helles, I'm happy to drink it.
Tastes of challah bread, honey, and Wheaties. Flowery and resiny hops are used with restraint. Clear golden color with plenty of foam in the Saint-Martin tall tulip. You could just drink this for Oktoberfest and be happier than with the usual sweet swill. From the tall boy can purchased at the tasting room in industrial San Diego.
