JaBier shared with Tmoney. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate, sweet vanilla, spicy rye, oak, nice beer.

Good head production for the style and ABV; decent retention.

Rich and potent nose, with a sweetness to the rye whiskey mash along with the booziness. Vanilla comes through as well, complementing the very rich chocolate, espresso, and molasses from the malt base. Intimidatingly strong, sweet, and rich, but incredibly inviting.

Equally rich, if not quite as sweet, on the palate. Huge notes of chocolate, vanilla, and rye whiskey, along with molasses, red grape, light char, toast, caramel, pecan, tobacco, and espresso. Incredibly flavorful and expressive.

Thick, creamy body; not quite chewy. Boozy without aggression; you can easily sip on this one as slowly as you'd like.

12oz can. Dark black, good viscosity. Aroma of whiskey, vanilla, and sugar. Flavor is the same. Its a good beer but it's a sugar bomb, definitely a pastry stout here.

Pretty unimpressed with this had on 2 separate occasions with unfortunately the night combined with the ultra set which made this feel like a shelf bottle. Nice rye feel vanilla took a hard back seat. Don't get me wrong there's a lot to like but given this was a limit 1pp to the league 2019 it fell well short of the hype liked this just below chaos grid quad flowers.

650ml bottle, served in a Modern Times stemless glass. Dark oily black body, pours with crazy legs, big viscosity. One half finger offwhite head, short retention and no lacing. Massive vanilla wafers on the nose, plus some of that vanilla bean dark fruit later on as it warms; plus a very nice spicy rye barrel and vanillin which contributes to the big vanilla. There is a bit of toasted oak, nice chocolate fudge sweetness on the palate that lingers along with the vanilla on the backend. Medium fuller bodied, entirely appropriate carbonation, with a bit of that vanilla bean dark fruit and ice cream on the finish. Absolutely yummy, yet another big adjunct banger from Modern Times!
