Here's what we did: we blended an absolutely incredible base beer consisting of Modem Tones Aged in Maple Bourbon Barrels, Beastmaster Aged in Bourbon Barrels, and Dragon Mask Aged in Bourbon Barrels. We wanted this beer to showcase everything that is possible with beer and coffee. So we loaded it with 5 pounds per barrel of our house-roasted Black House Blend via our usual "dry beaning" method, then added a massive quantity of freshly pulled Guardian Spirit espresso shots from our Lomaland cafe, and then hit it with a generous helping of Ethiopia Guji cold brew concentrate. If you remember Modem Tones: Super Coffee Edition from a couple of years back, expect an even more boss-level incarnation of that.

On tap at Dankness Dojo
All i could taste was an overpowering cloying mess of maple and ZERO coffee. Left a bad taste in my mouth. All i could do was look at the bartender in sheer confusion and asked him why this was called Ultra : Coffee . He said one of the base stouts was made with syrup and other stuff . It looks and feels nice but that's it. If you are the kind to add 10 sugars into your morning coffee you'll prolly like this, but this name is misleading

Had on tap. Oily black clean pour. Coffee leads the taste with bourbon and oak right behind, with accents of vanilla and wet earth, before descending into the depths of fudge. Nose is more of an amalgamation of all those things together, very dark and foreboding, better balanced. Feel is heavy, thinner than the others in the series, so still viscous, chewy and warm.

Went to Modern Times and this was on draft, bought a snifter. Look of beer was nice and dark. Smelled of coffee goodness. Taste was nice and thick and blew my mind how exceptional the coffee was in this beer. Can’t wait for the next version.

This lives up to it's name, being absurdly over the top with crazy amounts of coffee. Fresh, soft, lightly roasted third wave coffee goodness with soft floral and berry notes, carried on an absurdly rich and decadent stout base. Mild maple, moderate bourbon. Wicked.

2019 vintage, served in the proper Ultra glassware. Dark black body, dark brown head, legs. Roast, moderately bitter espresso, milk chocolate and cocoa, balanced out with warming whiskey, oak, light vanilla. Medium full bodied, noticeably thinner than the other variants in the set, good carbonation. Nice balance of big coffee, big chocolate and big barrel. Lots of B's here.
I'll note that as of October 2020, the 2020 vintage is nowhere near as good as the 2019 vintage, as the coffee is a bit too acrid and burnt in comparison. Otherwise similar base stout and barrel presence.
2021: Pitch black body. Big, earthy tones from the coffee. Rich and chocolatey. Nice barrel, helps the coffee temper the sweetness a bit. The chocolate fudge of the base still shines, full bodied, good carb. The balance is excellent, well done.
