We treated this hefty imperial stout to a bevy of our finest adjuncts, loading it up with beyond-liberal amounts of coconut, Madagascar vanilla, and wild Thai bananas. It’s a wildly successful confluence of decadent dessert flavors that’s virtually guaranteed to set the palate ablaze with pleasure.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours jet black in color with a one-finger dark brown head that eventually reduces to a ring around the glass
S- aroma smells just like a coconut cream pie, with undertones of banana, vanilla, chocolate and whipped cream
T- sweet coconut and vanilla up front are immediately followed by equal parts of milk chocolate and banana. Mid-palate gives some caramel and whipping cream before more coconut and vanilla bring out the finish, lingers of chocolate and coconut cream
M- heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a thick and chewy mouthfeel that continues into a creamy, velvety finish
O- thick, chewy and sweet with all of the adjuncts popping, well done

Liquid banana coconut cream pie, as stated in the title. Dark black body, thick and foreboding. Brown sugar, big authentic banana flavor, nice coconut sweetness balanced by chocolate fudge from the base. Nice vanilla adds to the mouthfeel. Excellent.

Quarantine day forty two: thanks to ICMTM for this 22 oz. bottle. Split with my wife. Remarkably, nothing bizarre happened today, nor did I do anything unusually stupid. Quarantine is growing on me.
Black – no hint of white or yellow banana parts. The nose is equal parts banana & brown sugar, but the non-existent addition (cocoa) dominates for me. I’m blaming house fever.
Reality Maze – Banana Cream Pie Edition is a triumph in the use of the biggest berry. I mean, why would anyone put a banana in a stout & ruin it? Huh. Massive dose of brown sugar is bolstered by a frame of coconut & vanilla & yes, plenty of chocolate (I swear it’s in there). The banana is a quiet contributor from the corner, just a cubit or two in order to announce its presence. The finish slides into a quiet, rich, smooth maltiness that also makes this easy on the throat.
I learned something about bananas; learned that they don’t automatically poison a stout; & consumed an excellent beer. That constitutes a good night.

I had to check the bottle, twice, to make verify that this wasnt actually barrel-aged because it has the smooth, richness that a BA usually does. Pretty impressive. The coconut and banana are present on the nose and come through perfectly balanced in the taste as well. The addition of vanilla rounds this beast out and really pushes the decadent, dessert flavor profile. I cant even fathom what this beer would become if aged in bourbon barrels, good stuff.

Sweet, chocolate-covered banana, vanilla-coconut icing nose! Ha! Great aromatics! Taste follows exactly with the chocolate banana and vanilla notes prominent thru the swallow. The dark chocolate bitterness starts to make itself known more as it warms. This is creamy-smooth and quite decadent...it somehow is able to stay well-balanced to the finish. This would be an all-timer for me if it was barrel aged! This is great!
