Bottle at share. Black silky pour, thin beige head. Aroma is coconut, chocolate, dark malts, bourbon. Taste is all that along with notes of vanilla and almond and a healthy dose of booze

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich creamy vanilla, bright and clear coffee aromas, sweet, but not overly sweet maple, and dark chocolate.
I think going maple barrel rather than direct maple addition was the right move here - as too much maple could have made this cloying. Modern Times is usually pretty good at making sure their barrel aged stouts are decadent but not ungodly sweet, so it's not surprise. The coffee is rich and cuts above the cacophony of flavors here, but the vanilla also does a good job of coming through with a rich decadent creaminess.
This is thick, creamy, rich, and not at all boozy, with a very smooth finish, and an impressive drinkability for the ABV and style.
There's a lot to like here - another full, rich, and decadent stout from Modern Times.

2020: 650ml bottle, Modern Times stemless glass. Dark black body. Massive chocolate fudge, maple syrup and whiskey. Smooth. Full bodied, creamy, good carbonation. It has a seriously nice dessert flavour to it- absolutely delicious.
2021: Dark, pitch black body. Poured cold, big espresso and coffee, vanilla. As it warms, more maple sweetness, chocolate fudge and even a bit of toasted coconut shows up to balance out the coffee. Coconut vanilla macaroon finish at room temp. Full body.
