We aged this batch of our beloved imperial dessert stout for 7 months in a unique set of California grape brandy barrels, which began their life as bourbon barrels before hosting brandy for 8-10 years. We then infused the whole shebang with Tanzanian vanilla and cacao nibs. What we ended up with is a liquid dark chocolate bar with waves of cocoa mingling with the brandy nose to create a majestic profile reminiscent of a fine Port wine. Your palate is about to feel all kinds of classy.

22 oz bomber into a snifter

Interesting going back and sampling earlier barrel-aged stouts from MT. I’ve been sitting on this for a bit, a lot less pastry-like. A lot more oak and molasses and tobacco, no milk chocolate essence. Brandy barrels impart a rum-like finish. Amazing brew.

Pours black with minimal khaki head.

Chocolate and dark fruit nose.

Chocolate and brandy oak dominates with some light vanilla.

Full body thick mouthfeel.

Overall a good beer. Not overly sweet.
