The date shake version takes a bit of the cinnamon away for a more balanced taste. This is a great beer. Dark in appearance, slight head, great smell, slightly thick on the palate (not Side Project thick, but better than BL).

What a massive flavor bomb. Vanilla, bright fruity coffee, dark fruits/dates, more vanilla rounded out by mild whiskey and chocolate malts. Full bodied, balanced and not too dry nor syrupy. Big beer that goes down so easily.

Thank you Dimidiata for this
22 oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- Black with a small mocha head.

S- Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, cinnamon, touch of coconut and vanilla, nice undertones of dates and walnuts.

T- Chocolate, coffee, dates, cinnamon, dark fruits, bourbon, some vanilla and coconut, touch of walnuts.

M- Smooth, full body.

O- An excellent barrel aged stout. Everything comes together very well and the 14% is incredibly well hidden.

Poured from 22oz bottle into a stemless tulip glass. Virtually no carbonation/head. Medium viscosity legs on the glass. Smell is dominated by coffee - followed by cinnamon/cassia. Taste is similar to the aroma - but the a figgy/date/dark fruit flavor makes a cameo on the back of the palate. The mouthfeel of this beer is what is expected from MT of late; rich, decadent, velvety - just wonderful!

Overall: I was a bit apprehensive about this one with the inclusion of dates (and walnuts) - but this beer is fantastic! While the previous 2 Coffee Cake beers that MT have released in 2020 were very enjoyable - the Date Shake Edition is the best of the series...so far.
