Thanks to SkunkDrool for this 16 oz. can received in a recent box to celebrate the crowning of a new U.S. President.
The pour is classic pale gold with plenty of skyward reaching head. The nose is new style: Big Fruit fronted by passion fruit, citrus, bright sunshine, & palm trees. Man.
Whatcha Thinkin’ is wild, maybe due to a hop strain I’m not very familiar with. The first impression is that it is both flaky skin dry & juicy, which I can’t imagine is easy to pull off. Citrus is tramp-stamped all over this (I have a funny story about tramp stamps & my wife…but I digress) with a touch of dankness, tropical fruit, & a slow wave of moderate bitterness that reminds one of 2011. Foisted half of this off on my wife & now regretting it.
More West Coast IPAs in the heartland please! Hard to find anything but OJ on the menus around here – something like this would be most welcome. Very good beer that borders on excellent.
