Quite modest head production, and poor retention. It's a double-digit ABV stout with additives, so I'm not shocked.
Nose is as expected, but restrained. Chocolate, vanilla, red grape, biscuit, brown sugar, toffee, espresso, molasses.
The vanilla is quite strong up front on the palate, and really brings this beer to a level never hinted at by the nose. The stout base itself hits next, with tones of dark chocolate, molasses, banana, nuts, and bread. By mid sip, the cocoa - which has lingered throughout - has really emerged, and blends with the vanilla throughout the back third and through the finish, which also carries additional notes of pecan, banana, and cola.
Creamy and smooth feel. I'd prefer a thicker, chewier malt base. Fairly lively and with a bit of alcohol sting, but you can still sip, savor, and chew adequately.
