Our special projects ninjas seriously punched up this iteration of our beloved bourbon barrel-aged stout. The beer—a tasty blend of bourbon barrel-aged Dragon Mask, Modem Tones, & Monsters' Park—was treated to Dominican & Peruvian cocoa nibs (7.5lb/bbl of each), Dutch-process cocoa powder (another 7.5lbs/bbl), Mexican vanilla (a whopping 4 lbs/bbl), oven-toasted cassia cinnamon sticks, and a specially curated blend of chilis (with Morita, Black, Guajillo, & Cayenne). The result is amazingly chocolate forward, with a subtle spiciness that will wrap your palate like a warm blanket on a brisk winter’s eve. Feel free to sit back and enjoy the show.

Dark black body, oily brown hue. Cinnamon, cocoa, light vanilla, medium pepper heat that isn't too distracting, blends in well with the vanilla. Has a nice brown sugary background, gives it a bit of a horchata sweetness. Medium full body. Lower carb.

Another MT stout. Maybe I’ll find a pod of them buried in the backyard. Soon. I hope. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife.
The pour is Death Star dark. The nose is bourbon & heat & not much else.
Chaos Grid – Mexican Hot Chocolate is delightful. The chilis are no doubt the life of the party but there are plenty of depths to plumb. Ballcocks include diffuse bourbon, bushels of sweet malts that echo molasses, warm vanilla & even the cinnamon is gentle & inoffensive.
I am an anti-proponent of balance in most cases but in this case it works like squids on tempered glass. Excellent beer.

Pretty much exactly what the label describes. Very sweet but also has some heat on the end that lingers for a bit. Tastes king of like a churro and reminds me a lot of the double coconut coffee cake from Modern Times. Good but too sweet, definitely should not be in a 22oz package.
