This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like malted milk chocolate, cookie dough, vanilla, roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit, bourbon, and oak.
This is one of the thicker Modern Times stouts that I’ve ever had – it’s just loaded with huge dark roasty, chocolatey, and barrel-y flavors. There’s tons of milk chocolate, but the nice roast and char help keep it from being too sweet.
This drinks like motor oil – it’s an overused term for stouts, but it’s correct here. There’s barely any booziness.
This is quite an achievement – so much flavor coaxed out without any adjuncts.

Thicc black body, oily legs. Big vanillin, chocolate fudge, oak. Slight whiskey heat, but the vanillin from the barrel highly shines here, giving a marshmallowy character. Wow. Full bodied, chewy and thick. Very sweet, but incredibly so.

Really good non-adjunct BA stout. Rich, sweet base with intertwined notes of stewed raisin, baking chocolate, vanilla, & bourbon on a smooth, hot finish. Modern Times always reliable in this realm.
